The Lexercise professional development series is recognized by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) as an Accredited Program Plus  in recognition that it prepares professionals to provide targeted, intensive structured literacy interventions to individuals and small groups of students. The International Dyslexia Association standards require that therapists have, in addition to coursework, a supervised clinical practicum in which they gain experience applying the knowledge and skills learned in coursework to clinical intervention. Professionals who complete Lexercise's structured literacy professional development series and pass IDA's Knowledge and Practice Examination for Effective Reading Instruction (KPEERI) exam are eligible to apply for CERI's Structured Literacy™ Dyslexia Specialist (SLDS) designation. The Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI) is an affiliate of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA). You can learn more about CERI  at this link.  More information about the KPEERI can be found at this link.

It may be of particular interest to educators to know that the three Lexercise professional development courses are designed to address knowledge and skills as described by The International Center for Leadership in Education's  Rigor-Relevance Framework.

At the "low end" (A & B) the focus is on acquiring and applying knowledge and being able to recall or locate that knowledge. At the "high end" (C & D) the focus is on using knowledge, assimilating it with other domains of knowledge and adapting it for specific circumstances.

Here is how the three Lexercise professional development courses relate to the Rigor-Relevance Framework:

    • Level A           - Lexercise Course 1 (Structure of Written English)
    • Level B           - Lexercise Course 2 (Multisensory, Structured Literacy Intervention)
    • Levels C & D  - Lexercise Course 3 (Practicum in Structured Literacy Teletherapy)
